The Bremont U-22 watch is the result of Bremont's on-going association with the Spy Plane Squardon based at Beale, California, and their request to update the original Bremont U-2 model using the extensive testing history behind it, but built to a specific new specification. This new model features a newly developed bezel design, as well as, a new barrel colour and re-designed day and date window to resemble the view on an altimeter. The bezel has been updated to feature a compass quadrant which is often used for navigation weather mapping. The Trip-Tick hardened stainless steel case also features a bronze central barrel, with bronze picked because of the colour of the anti-reflective coating used on military cockpit canopies. The dial is a dark grey with Super Lumi-Nova coated hour markers and hands and the Bremont logo below 12 o'clock. The sapphire crystal protecting the dial has been treated with 9 layers of anti-reflective coating for optimal readability in all conditions. The Chronometer tested piece is presented on a great calf leather strap with a steel pin buckle and is powered by the modified calibre BE-36AE automatic movement which can be viewed through the sapphire crystal case back.
